So as in the last weeks I am going to join the Blogger Challenge. This week’s theme is “It’s All In The Background!” For this theme we were supposed to show you our favorite “Backgrounds”, might it be a sim, a wallpaper, our home, our club anything that we love to use as background and then match our outfit to it.
My favourite place in the whole of Second Life has changed recently from ‘My home’ to this paradise called “Alirium”, since my best friend has shown it to me. I would live there if I could, seriously. It has so many breathtaking spots, but I am going to show only one of them, to not give you an overkill. But the true beauty can be seen only when you visit it yourself.
As you can see I really tried to keep the center of attention to the background since that was the subject, but there at the side is me and so I keep it at least a little “fashionable” *grins*

I remember last year when it was the first time of “Wear Gray for a Day” for me i thought the dresscode is to wear gray. But that view changed a lot, during the last year’s event and this year’s.
Wear Gray will open its doors to public September 12th and close it again September 25th. So you’ll have a lot of time to show up and enjoy shopping tours.
If you do not know what ‘Wear Gray’ is, here a short explanation. Wear Gray is an annual Charity event in the spirit of raising awareness and donations for the fight against Brain Cancer. This year all donations will go to benefit The American Brain Tumor Association (ABTA). From the Wear Gray Homepage:
“A two week market with creators from across the grid, new and old, banding together to help raise funds for the American Brain Tumor Association. Wear Gray for a Day is the ‘brain child’ of Wear Gray Director Sanura Snowpaw. Sadly, Sanura lost her RL cousin to brain cancer and wanted to find a way to help raise funds to go towards researching to find a cure and to raise awareness of this disease.”
These two weeks will be full of events, parties, there is a hunt and lots of items are being sold that will donate 50 – 100% of proceeds to ABTA. I hope to show off some stuff i got and will still get there to show that ‘Wear Gray’ can be colorful and of course to show off those amazing creators. At the same time i would love to say a big thank you and applaud to Sanura Snowpaw and Arora Zanzibar who worked their asses off to make this happen.

So I had my brave day today. I am having a very hard time IMing people and being around people I don’t know, I think I mentioned panicking when i am close to strangers before… Well today I IMed strangers, saw strangers, listened to stranger’s discussions and I was among them. And I cannot believe it but … I am still alive
The biggest mass of people I think i faced today during the Hair Fair. I actually wanted to wait a bit longer until it is more quiet but since I had my brave day and was terribly bored I jumped into the flood of people tonight. And of course as expected it was pretty laggy. But that was not only because of the prims around or the amount of people. No, of course not.
But who the heck dresses in a million prim outfit, wears a million prim Hair with scripts all over the items to a fair that expectedly will by laggy as hell? Well I could have shown You a few hundred of them. I was happy for my Derendering feature and was happily making people invisible and pretending the fair was made only for me – Mwhaha. And I was there without a single prim myself and still looking dashing *lol*
Before I went i was even bold but then found those cool shaved hairbases from boon for free and had to throw it on. Looks much nicer that way. And I was really lucky that the lovely Kesseret Steeplechase let me test her brand new Scratcher HUD (yay finally scratching for prices in SL *dance*) because I won this cute Top
In case that you did never hear about ARC and stuff and wonder what the heck I am talking about here a short explanation. ARC is short for Avatar Rendering Cost. Each prim, flexi prim, script and what not you wear goes with some formula into that cost. And the higher the worse for laggy situations. Each prim you wear adds more to the lag, because it has to be rendered by everyone around, the textures have to be loaded, the sculpts have to be loaded etc. So when you go to a fair or a concert or anything where you know you will be caught in lag – strip off your prims, go bald, barefoot.. you do not have to be naked, your layer clothes are not going into that cost obviously – the outfit i am wearing has an ARC of 1 – and the 1 is the avatar itself.
Help the fair and the visitors, also yourself and go lag free, no matter how that looks you can enjoy the fair much better without rubberbanding and crashing all the time

Since I’ve gotten this Avatar ages ago, i wanted to do a picture with it, but never got into the right mood nor found a good place. Ever since then i got constant reminders of the picture i wanted to take. Be it in seeing other Na’Vis or getting items that were just perfect for this picture but still no idea of a place. Now i found one but since there was no building allowed i could not do what i wanted, so i changed it a bit and will use the item for a different picture later on
I have to say that i liked the movie AVATAR. But it was rather the landscapes, the settings, the culture.. the fighting and action scenes were so not mine and could have easily lived without those *chuckles*
The location is Pandora at Fruit Islands and is a really beautiful nature sim inspired by Pandora, it even has those shrink plants that vanish inside the ground when you collide with them. Sadly many of my pictures turned out just black when i opened them today, but this one was still there so i am sharing it with you

Last night I sat there on my Building Platform in SL and thought about how the time ran and how long I am doing stuff already. In December I will be in SL for 4 years, I am doing Render Art for 10 years and I know my bestest friend Cale for 13 or 14 years, maybe even longer forgot to count. And I am with my RL boyfriend for over 8 years already…
I still remember my first evening in SL, visiting the White Dove, getting all the freebies, thinking how great the ‘realistic’ skin looks and getting a free hair with a voucher, back in times when free stuff was something rare and precious and we camped for nights and days to get together 10 Lindens. I wore the skin for 3 months until Cale dragged me skin shopping and i got a real realistic skin and noticed how pink my other one was, i kept the hair for 3 years and never changed it a bit until I found my love of SL hair and to change it every now and then.
So much happened in those almost 4 years and it’s so interesting to see what we have been doing, whom we met, what we saw and experienced and who we became. Seeing where I am now, when I started i would have said you’re crazy if you’ve told me where I’ll be.
And I’ve met so many wonderful people and I know that without them my life would be terribly empty. Just saying that, even if something I think “those were the days I wished to be back again”.. i would not want to be there without all of you. Thanks for making life interesting and being there, no matter if it is the bitch next door driving me nuts or my friends who make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside

Wandering through this beautiful colorful garden brought up the memories of this beautiful old Irish song. I knew I will need to make pictures there very soon but did not find the mood for it until now.
Yesterday after fighting with the Linden-Gods for an hour to get into the Sim, i finally got in and actually wanted to grab a special I missed from elymode. But while I was there I found more that I just needed and while playing around with it at home I heard this song again my head (yes I hear stuff that is not there – shush it lol) and with a smile on my lips I knew where to go.
This place is called Frog’s garden and it is just wonderful, filled with so many different plants, also my favorites: Sunflowers. I really want to move in here, right there at this patch of grass where the sun meets the green and the wind carries over the scent of flowers from all over the garden.

A not so long time ago, there was a little panda. It was an itty bitty tiny one that would have to fall down on its butt to be able to look up to his human friends. But the panda did not mind because it liked its human friends.
It lived in a place named Pink Fuel, that was how its human friend called it. Always so many new people all day long and they passed and would smile and maybe even pat the panda’s head. But it was time. Our panda wanted to visit the land where all those other big pandas were. But actually it did not want to visit the pandas, no, it heard about a huge wall that people can see from the stars and for a long time our panda dreamed of the day when it can stand on this wall and wave up to the people in the stars. So one day our itty bitty panda left and after many many days it was in a colorful strange land called Japan, because the pilot of the strange flying thing dropped the little panda in the wrong land.
The itty bitty panda heard that the wall would be very far and too far to walk there on the itty bitty panda paws. But the strange vehicles its human friends used were way too big for the little panda. And it did not know the way, so how to find the big wall to fulfill its dream?
While our itty bitty panda was walking through the colorful town and asked many of the little people – which it did not know where statues – for the way and nobody answered. Then suddenly it heard a strange noise, a purring and meowing sound.
A little family of deep black cats was standing at the city gates and sharing their meal. And told the itty bitty tiny panda that they knew where to find the wall. And together there would be strong enough to bring it there, because they could run way faster than the little panda and were not too big to ride on them.
The little panda was so happy that it agreed, on asking why they would help the cats only said that they see when a dream is genuine and from all the heart and it touched them so deeply that they wanted to fulfill it to see the panda smile. The itty bitty tiny panda hugged the little cats and thanked them with tears of joy in its eyes and the big cat carried the panda on the back while the little cats helped with the legs and fast as the wind they were on their way.
It happened all so fast that the itty bitty tiny panda did not realize how fast it was, the landscape flew past them and still a long time after, the astonished and gleaming eyes of the panda were glued to the huge wall it was standing on. It thanked its new friends who meowed happily while the itty bitty panda was looking up into the sky, waving its itty bitty tiny arms so everyone looking down from the starts to the huge Wall could see the happy shining eyes of the itty bitty tiny panda whose dream came true.

That song was stuck in my head all the time while I was visiting a sim last night that portraits the beautiful Paris. I always wanted to travel there but since I did not have the chance in RL yet, I did it in SL.
I was amazed by the details of the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe, the beauty of the Champs-Élysées… the sun was shining and it was like I could smell the clear air, because in contrast to the real Paris there were only a couple of parked cars, people walked, there was a little booth with fresh crêpes… it all just brought a smile on my face that I danced on the street in front of the Arc

Alright last night I was pretty bored. While browsing through Feeds and Blogs I noticed, that I totally forgot about the Platinum hunt and in just a few moments my boredom was gone. Hopping through stores I barely knew or never heard of is great if you have nothing to do. So I was grabbing a few of the prizes and were looking through them afterwards, and I have to say that it is totally worth it to pay 10 L$ per item, I’d pay much more for that quality.
So while looking through the things I got, I found myself in a mix of a couple of them because I was too lazy to take them off before I did not want to wear a new one and what I saw, I kinda liked. (The Leggins, Gloves and Shoes come with a top as well, but I mixed it with a different top I was wearing before). So this post was born *grins*
The sim that sprung into my mind was one of those i discovered recently on my Flickr-Location Tour and it was really great for those pics. It’s a dark Scifi Roleplay sim named The next day, City of Doom. What I really love about it is that you really feel like being in that dark futuristic time AND you do not have to wear an observer titler (I hate those things) because the rules dictate “If you do not wear the title [from the combat system] you are seen as non existent to role play”. So as long as you do not wear a titler you can wander around without being dragged into play and can look around, observe, make pictures and so on.

Last night was one of those nights, when i just did not get tired. I stayed up way too long but well that’s normal for me anyway *grins* I was in the mood to make something darker, fitting to my being of a night owl and a little bit mystic.
So while sorting my “To sort” folder, that is by now bigger than the rest of my inventory, i found a gown i bought during the Summer of Love Fair and the idea of Vampire Chan was born and i knew the perfect place for it. A dark roleplay sim with a breathtaking cathedral and an awesome cemetery called “No Salvation”.
When i arrived the sun was shining, forgot to override my light settings with the sim default, and since i refuse to sparkle i changed it to night. I made a bunch of pictures and i could not decide which one i like most, so you’re getting three of them *wink*
The first one is inside the cathedral and i hope i don’t have to mention that this light is casted by the moon through the windows, don’t come with sparkles and the like to me *smirks*
The second picture shows one of the outside places around the cathedral. Right behind the cemetery gates inside its walls you can find those beautiful poppy flowers.
While i was walking around and discovered crypts at the seam of the cemetery i saw it surrounded by a hip high wall with a beautiful view on the water, the moon standing over it. Luckily i could go closer so this picture was born.
